A male member of the Ivory Park South African Police Service (SAPS) is under investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).
This comes after he allegedly shot a 13yr old boy. The boy has been shot on his spinal cord and is currently in hospital.
The police officer is alleged to have first shot at the boy’s father. The bullet touched his ear and missed.
According to IPID: “A police Seargent from Ivory Park Police Station had blocked the road when the complainant asked him to move his car from the road.”
“Instead of moving, he elected to take out his state firearm and shot at the complainant who ran to his car. The sergeant chased behind them while shooting until he hit the victim’s spinal cord.”
The sergeant has been suspended from his duties pending the IPID Investigation.
