President Cyril Ramaphosa has, in terms of Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act of 1994, declared Monday, 1 November 2021 as a public holiday throughout the country.
Wednesday, 20 October 2021, marks only 11 days to go to the 2021 Local Government Elections scheduled for the the 1st of November 2021. Election Day will be from 7am until 9pm.
Different Political Parties have started campaigning in the different Wards of Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park (KAE) and surrounding areas of Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge.
Judging by the amount of election posters and door to door visits in KAE and surrounding areas, the 2021 Local Government Elections will be heavily contested. All the Wards in KAE and surrounding areas are currently governed by the African National Congress (ANC).
The ANC will be hoping to retain all the Wards. The Regional Secretary of the ANC in Greater Johannesburg, Dada Morero visited the Full Gospel Church of God in Ivory Park for Sunday’s service. While Former Minister, Malusi Gigaba, conducted a door to door campaign with the ANC Leadership of Ward 111.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) Ward 79 Councillor Candidate and Former MMC for Public Safety, Michael Sun was at Ivory Park over the weekend. The DA claims to have recruited 31 residents to join the political party.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have been postering across KAE and conducting door to door campaigns. The Fighters will be hoping to increase their 30 seats in the CoJ Council.
COPE President, Mosiuoa Lekoto conducted a door to door campaign in Ivory Park on Tuesday. He was accompanied by MMC Tom Mofokeng. COPE is part of the City of Johannesburg “Government of Local Unity”
Former Johannesburg Mayor and President of new party Action SA, Herman Mashaba was in the Greater Ivory Park area on Saturday, 16 October 2021. Mashaba was assisting with postering and engaged residents on his party’s plans to “fix South Africa”.
