POLITICAL PARTIES READY FOR LOCAL ELECTIONS
Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park (KAE), Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge residents would have seen posters of the major political parties on street lights by now.
The major political parties are gearing up for the Local Government Elections scheduled for Monday, 1 November 2021.
Local Government Elections are held every 5 years to elect Ward Councillors, PR Councillors and ultimately the Mayor.
KAE and surrounding areas fall under the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. The last elections were held in 2016.
During the 2016 Local Government Elections the African National Congress (ANC) received 44,5% of the votes, Democratic Alliance (DA) 38,41%, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) 11,09% while the smaller parties shared the remaining 6%.
The ANC won all of the wards in KAE. Our Wards are Ward 77, Ward 78, Ward 79, Ward 80, Ward 92, Ward 110, Ward 111 and Ward 133.

This year will see new entrants African Transformation Movement (ATM) and former mayor Herman Mashaba‘s Action SA contesting the local government elections for the first time.
Residents are urged to register to vote tomorrow, 18 September 2021 and Sunday, 19 September 2021 at their nearest voting stations. Registration will be open from 8:00 until 17:00.
