PREMIER LESUFI SWITCHES ON ELECTRICITY TRANSFORMER IN IVORY PARK

The Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, led the #SwitchOn of a brand-new electricity transformer in John Dube Section, Ivory Park this afternoon, 23 April 2025, bringing light and power back to a community that has been in the dark for nearly a year.
This milestone forms part of the Transformer Replacement Programme, a central initiative under the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Energy Response Plan, aimed at restoring power to communities that have long suffered from electricity outages.
The Premier was joined by Ward 133 Counclior, Teboho Marumo and community leaders as he officially switched on the transformer, drawing cheers from excited residents.
The Premier urged residents to buy electricity legally and avoid illegal connections that lead to overloading and the damaging of infrastructure..
Residents of John Dube Section expressed relief and gratitude, noting the positive impact electricity will have on their daily lives — from cooking and studying to safety and overall quality of life.
The Gauteng Provincial Government has reiterated its commitment to expanding the Energy Response Plan to ensure all residents have access to reliable electricity.
