RAND WATER MAINTENANCE TO AFFECT MIDRAND WATER SUPPLY FROM 25-26 JANUARY

Johannesburg Water has announced an upcoming maintenance project by Rand Water that will impact the Palmiest System, including water supply to Midrand regions.

The maintenance is scheduled to take place from 25 January to 26 January 2025 and involves repairing a leak on the O2 pipeline.

Impact on Midrand

During the maintenance, the water supply will be isolated to allow the necessary repairs, causing low pressure or no water supply in several areas, including Ivory Park, Kaalfontein, Ebony Park, Klipfontein View, Allandale, President Park, and Halfway House. Residents are encouraged to prepare in advance for the expected disruptions.

Consumer Advisory

Johannesburg Water has issued the following advice to residents:
• Plan Ahead: Store water in advance for use during the maintenance period.
• Alternative Measures: Consider harvesting rainwater for non-consumption uses.
• Essential Services Priority: Schools, clinics, old-age homes, and retirement homes in the area will be prioritized for alternative water supplies through roaming and stationary water tankers.

Key Services Affected

Malls, hospitals, and medical centers are advised to make arrangements for their own backup water supply to minimize the impact of the shutdown.

Support Plans

Johannesburg Water has committed to assessing the need for alternative water provisions during this period. Roaming water tankers and other measures will be deployed in coordination with ward councillors to assist affected regions.

Councillor engagement and information sessions will take place starting 13 January 2025 to address community concerns and provide updates regarding the maintenance process.

Residents are urged to follow updates and announcements from Johannesburg Water to stay informed.
