The mouthpiece of taxis in South Africa namely the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has urged the public and commuters to report overloaded taxis that are not adhering to the National Disaster Regulations.

According to the National Disaster Regulations, taxis must be at 70% of loading capacity. That means that 15 seaters carry 10, 16 seaters 11 and 23 seaters 16. SANTACO has requested the public to report anything more than that to 073 356 8500.

Furthermore, taxis are only permitted to operate from 05:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 during the 21 day National lockdown.
