ROBBER BEATEN TO DEATH BY UMPHAKATHI
A 42 year old man from Kaalfontein has been shot during a robbery and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
This happened in the early hours of Boxing Day during a robbery in which three cellular phones were taken by two criminals, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
“Immediately after two shots were fired, the family and the adjacent community realized that the suspects have ran out of ammunition, tables were turned on them and one alleged robber was beaten to death. “ said Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson of Ivory Park SAPS.
He was later identified, leading to the police to believe that the other robber will be caught soon and brought to account for his criminal acts.
“We would have liked to have the deceased alive, maybe his incarceration may have ended up with solving similar crimes committed in the area and the immediate surroundings,” said Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS.
Brigadier Ngcobo also appealed to the community to report crimes, criminal activities and to thoroughly know who their tenants are and what their sources of income is, so as to enable us to live peacefully in our homes.
“Let’s not tolerate or idolize criminals,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
