SEKHUKHUNE PLAYER BAIL EXTENDED – CASE POSTPONED

The Tembisa Magistrates’ Court has postponed the case against footballer Mokete Shaune Mogaila (29) to 19 May 2025 for further investigations.

Mogaila surrendered himself to the South African Police Service (SAPS) in connection with an alleged reckless driving incident that resulted in the tragic death of 9-year-old Gomolemo Mavimbela. The crash occurred in the early hours of 30 October 2024 on Andrew Mapheto Road, Tembisa.

According to the state’s allegations, Mogaila’s vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with another car carrying a woman and two minor children. The accident claimed Gomolemo’s life, while the mother and a 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries. Authorities allegedly found alcohol bottles and drugs in Mogaila’s car after the crash.

Furthermore, reports state that Mogaila fled the scene but later turned himself in, leading to charges of:
• Reckless driving
• Fleeing the scene of an accident
• Culpable homicide

The case was postponed to allow for further investigations, including the final post-mortem results. Mogaila’s bail remains extended until his next court appearance.
