Tembisa native, Ashley Raphala popularly known as Dj Shimza is not new in giving back to his community.
Every year the proceeds of his One Man Show event held on Christmas Day are used to buy school shoes for underprivileged children. The event is held at Mehlareng Stadium and last year’s one was lit!
Today, the 14th of January 2020, Shimza held a ceremony at Olifantsfontein Hall to handover a total of “2000 Shoes of Hope” to be distributed to poor deserving learners from his Kasi, Tembisa.
In attendance was the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina and the MEC of Education and Youth Development, Panyaza Lesufi.
Beneficiaries were in attendance. Beneficiaries are identified beforehand from Tembisa Schools and a list is drawn up.
The adage about the more you give is the more you receive is evident in Shimza’s life. Last year he opened up a hangout spot at Endayeni Section called The Hang Awt 1632. Furthermore, the 35 year old recently shared on his social media pages that he is building rental accommodation in Tembisa.
As if that’s not enough, he is set to get the bag internationally by signing to US Agency, United Talent. Ashley will be part of United Talent’s prestigious roaster which represents some major legends and mega superstars like, Akon, 21 Savage, DJ Khaled, Young Thug, Burna Boy, Nasty C and Lauryn Hill.
