TEMPORARY VICTORY FOR JUSTICE AS PERPETRATOR SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT

Detective Sergeant Phuti Rafapa from the Tembisa Family Violence, Child Protection Service, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit succeeded in securing a five-year prison term for Thembelani Moyo (38).

The Tembisa Magistrate Court recently delivered the sentence after Moyo was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Ivory Park on January 15, 2021.

The despicable act saw the accused forcefully removing the girl’s underwear and penetrating with his finger while she was asleep in her home during the night. The assailant entered the victim’s room unnoticed by her.

Major General Anna Sithole, the Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, has expressed satisfaction with the sentence and commended the dedicated efforts of law enforcement members in tightening the noose on criminals within the Ekurhuleni District.
