THREE BEHIND BARS FOR RAPES

The SAPS’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit ( FCS) arrested three men for alleged rapes in different areas of Ivory Park last week Thursday, 26 August 2021.

In one incident the officers arrested a 21 year old man for having a sexual relationship with a 15 year old. The suspect was picked up at his residential home in Ivory Park’s Extension Three, while another suspect was arrested in Ivory Park’s Extension Two for a rape incident which is alleged to have taken place last month.

The alleged rapists also include a 45 year old man alleged to have raped his 9 year old stepdaughter. According to the Ivory Park SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Ben Matimulane “the girl’s mother and the suspect have been in a relationship for the past ten years or so”

Ivory Park station commander Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo has thanked the team for going all out in ensuring that people accused of committing crimes against women, children and other vulnerable people are made to account.

“For the benefit of the community it must be put on record that these arrests will continue way beyond women’s month, up until potential perpetrators know that they will be made to account, ” said Brigadier Ngcobo.

Gauteng Province Community Safety officials together with Gender-Based Violence Brigades attended the court appearance of the suspect who allegedly raped his step daughter in Ivory Park today at Tembisa Magistrates Court.

GBV Brigades vowed to monitor the case closely to ensure that justice is served.
