THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR FRAUDULENT USE OF 250 SASSA CARDS

In a collaborative operation, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit (CLU), Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), and other law enforcement agencies apprehended three (3) suspects on Wednesday for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activities involving South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) cards.

The suspects, aged between 38 and 47 years, were stopped during a routine operation along Andrew Mapheto Drive in Tembisa. Officers from the multidisciplinary team searched the suspects’ vehicle and discovered 250 SASSA cards inside.

One of the suspects reportedly admitted to using the SASSA cards for fraudulent activities. The suspects were immediately arrested and detained at Tembisa Police Station.

The EMPD confirmed the arrests and stated, “The suspects were found in possession of 250 SASSA cards, which were allegedly being used for illegal activities. They are now facing charges related to fraudulent conduct and will soon appear in court.”
