The community can breathe a sigh of relief as two (2) Kempton Park bank followers sentenced.

It is alleged that on Wednesday, 07 March 2018 at 14:10 the victim was driving his BMW vehicle after withdrawing money (R35,000.00) at a Bank in West Street in Kempton Park to pay his employees.

On arrival at Casuarina Street, Kempton Park he was approached by two African males both armed with guns. The suspects demanded the money he had just withdrew at the bank.

A fight ensued between the suspects and the victim, fortunately the Police vehicle that was passing along the road noticed the fight and stopped.

The two African males started running and shooting at the Police. The Police retaliated and managed to arrest both the suspects. The Docket was allocated to Sergeant Raselomane of Trio Task Team, Ekurhuleni North.

During the bail application, it was found that one accused named Zakhelo Maseko was on parole for Robbery and his parole was revoked and the second accused, Andile Ngoma, was granted bail by Kempton Park Regional Court.

Two months later police received a tip off that the same accused on bail, Andile Ngoma, was in possession of two illegal firearms.

A well established operation was conducted and he was swiftly arrested. During further investigation regarding the two firearms, it was found that one of the firearms belongs to a Police officer attached to Ekurhuleni North District.

The same police officer was robbed while coming from Woodbridge, Kempton Park to withdraw an amount of R25,000.00 cash.

The officer was robbed at gun point and his state firearm, car keys and cash were taken by the suspects.

Ngoma was then attending two Robbery cases from two different courts in Kempton Park from 2018 until Thursday, 20 January 2022, when he was found guilty and sentenced in both Courts.

In the first case both the accused were sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment

In the second case, Ngoma was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

“The convictions will send a strong message to other suspects who are terrorizing the community and to those who are taking the full might of the Law for granted in Ekurhuleni District and its surrounding areas.” said Captain Sekgobela the Ekurhuleni District Communication Officer.
