TWO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT RAPISTS SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON

The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed a life term in prison each for two men who were convicted by the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court for rape.

The two suspects, aged 27 and 29, and both illegally in the country, were arrested shortly after they robbed and raped a woman in Ivory Park’s Extension Two.

“Luckily for the victim the two were known to her, thus making tracing and subsequent arrest by the Ekurhuleni district Trio Task Team a bit easier and faster.” said Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson of the Ivory Park SAPS.

“Eric Ncube and Derrick Ndlovu, both from Ivory Park’s Extension Two forcefully entered the room the victim was sleeping in on June 2019, threatened her with violence should she scream and then both raped her. They thought they were not seen but they were wrong.” said Matimulane.

This month the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court sentenced each of them to life imprisonment for rape and an additional 12 months for being in the country illegally.

They have been in custody since their arrest shortly after the incident as they were found to have been in South Africa illegally.

“They earned this lengthy sentence as a result of their terror they inflicted on the victim. We salute Sergeant Andile Mbovane, for the excellent investigation that ensured that the two are permanently withdrawn from our community,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.
