TWO IVORY PARK WOMEN GET TWO YEARS FOR FRAUD

Ivory Park Police Station

The Ivory Park SAPS has noted and welcomed 24 months jail sentences given to two (2) women who swindled a pensioner her money amount to R80,000.00 over time.

The duo was sentenced by the Tembisa Magistrate Court on 05 May 2023.

One of the suspects was a close confidant of the victim and had used this proximity to fraudulently enrich herself.

“The story was that the pensioner received money due to her with the assistance of another woman. The assistant went on to contact the confidante and together they raided the old woman’s account, taking nearly R80,000.00 (eighty thousand rand) over a period of time. The victim got the shock of her life when, as she was about to withdraw money, she was told that money had been withdrawn from her account,”

said Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson of Ivory Park SAPS.

“We are thankful that this Gogo did not collapse and die as a result of this form of financial abuse. Surely the two ladies,Maria Zeka and Mavies Mdaka, deserve this sentence for their betrayal,” said Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS.

Brigadier Ngcobo has further thanked Detective Constable Lungani Ngubo for restoring justice for the victim.
