DETECTIVES from the Ekurhuleni Trio Task Team have on Wednesday (last week) arrested two men in their 30s for possession of suspected stolen property. Preliminary information shows that the goods including X-Boxs, PlayStations and computer hard drives, may have been taken during a recent hijacking incident in the Ivory Park policing precinct.
The Trio Team has been working around the clock with the intention of establishing the perpetrators behind the hijacking of a company vehicle during which the company driver was accosted at the robots, kidnapped and later dumped somewhere in Ivory Park.
The delivery vehicle was found on the same day, abandoned in the Tswelopele area minus the electronic items. Right now the team is trying to connect the dots after information pointed them to an electronic shop in Ivory Park where the owner was found. He failed to give a satisfactory account of the origin of the property, let alone to produce receipts of purchase.
The two suspects have been detained at the Ivory Park SAPS and they will be charged with possession of suspected stolen property. They are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court in due course.
The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed this arrest, and commended the detectives for going all out in their quest to establish the facts. “We may not know, at least for now, whether these two are merely in possession or responsible for much more, our investigation will surely bring the facts to light,” said Brigadier Ngcobo
