WARD 111 ANC COUNCILLOR CANDIDATES

The African National Congress (ANC) in Ward 111 has started it’s process to choose Ward Councillor candidates for the Local Government Elections scheduled for the 27th of October 2021.

Ward 111 covers parts of Ebony Park, Kaalfontein and Ivory Park. The Ward includes voting districts of Ebony Park Primary School, Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School and Umqhele Comprehensive School.

The ANC is encouraging communities to participate in the Ward councillor selection process through community meetings. The process will include branch nominations, community meetings and community votes.

BRANCH NOMINATION
The ANC January 8 Branch has nominated and voted for candidates. The ANC Ward Candidates are:
Nontuthuzelo “Dudu” Supe
Nomabali Kapiyane
Johannes Seepe
Raisibe Matsemela
(current councillor)

COMMUNITY MEETING
On Thursday, 24 June 2021, the ANC will hold a community meeting at Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School Hall at 16:00. The meeting will be attended by members of the community in the voters roll. The candidates will be asked and answer the same 4 questions. According to ANC guidelines, the community meeting may reject all nominees from the branch and propose an alternative.

COMMUNITY VOTES
The community will be able to vote for preferred councillor candidate on Sunday, 27 June 2021. Votes will be cast across the Ward 111 VDs from 13:00 until 17:00. The candidate with the most votes will represent the ANC in the Local Government Elections and the candidate with the second highest votes will be an alternative.

The ruling party won the Ward 111 elections with 57,06% of the vote during the last Local Government Elections in 2016. A total of 4,100 Community members voted for the ANC in Ward 111.
