ILLEGAL STRUCTURES DEMOLISHED IN KAALFONTEIN
Illegal structures are currently being demolished at Kaalfontein Ext 7B near the park. The structures which have been mushrooming earlier this year were illegally built on a wetland.
Members of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Development Planning Single Law Enforcement Unit came with TLB to demolish the illegal structures on Tuesday, 31 August 2021.
The brick and mortar structures are a result of land invasion, some with illegally connected storm water pipes, water and electricity.
According to City of Johannesburg officials the land belongs to the Johannesburg Property Company and Joburg Parks and Zoo.
