SWITCH OFF YOUR GEYSER TO REDUCE LOADSHEDDING, SAYS RAMAPHOSA

South Africa is currently facing one of its most severe energy crises with no end in sight.

As the country experiences Stage 6 Loadshedding blackouts, President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered his closing remarks at the African National Congressional National Executive Committee’s (ANC NEC) 4-day meeting held in Boksburg on Monday, 24 April 2023.

Ramaphosa highlighted the ANC’s responsibility to find solutions to the energy crisis as this was the number one priority of the ANC and the citizens of the country. However, he added that all attempts to resolve the electricity crisis would take time to bear fruit.

The immediate task, according to Ramaphosa, was to ensure that all power stations were working and to implement advertisements encouraging citizens to also play their part in reducing demand during the winter season.

One of the ways South Africans can contribute to reducing load shedding is by switching off their geysers in the morning and evening, which has resulted in Eskom saving electricity in the past.

Loadshedding is having a devastating impact on small businesses, and it is concerning what Stage of Loadshedding will be implemented in winter.

The need for the government to take decisive action to end the crisis cannot be overstated. The Minister of Electricity’s absence in times like these is notable, and it is unclear what measures are being taken to address the energy crisis.

As the country prepares to enter the winter season, it is imperative that the government takes swift action to prevent further disruptions to daily life and businesses.

With load shedding affecting the economy and the lives of ordinary citizens, urgent intervention is required to ensure the country’s energy supply is stable and reliable.
