2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN TEMBISA FOR CARHIJACKING AND BUSINESS ROBBERY

Members of Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence Trio Task Team , Crime Intelligence Head Office, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic and 87 Feature Security received information on Tuesday regarding suspects who are allegedly terrorizing Ekurhuleni District with car hijackings and business robberies with firearms.

“An Intelligence Driven Operation was conducted and two suspects were cornered at Moedi Section, Tembisa on Wednesday. They were arrested for possession of 2 unlicensed firearms, a 380 special and a black pistol.” said Captain Sekgobela of SAPS Ekurhuleni District.

“The two suspects aged 36 and 39 were also found in possession of a hijacked motor vehicle red BMW. The vehicle tested positive as per Kempton Park Case of January 2022” Sekgobela added.

The other vehicle which is a red Ford Figo that was allegedly used in the commission of crime was seized from the suspects. Both vehicles were towed to Van Ryn Deep.

According to the police, one of the suspects is a repeat offender as he was arrested in January 2022 and March 2022.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole commended the members for their swift response to ensure that unlicensed firearms are taken away from the streets community and to assist the community members to breath a sigh of relief.
