A STUDENT AND TEACHER HONOURED FOR POETRY

LOCKDOWN and IN MY STOLEN YARD poetry books have been awarded “The Honoree Afrikan Authors’ Awards” on the 31st of July 2021 at a prestigious ceremony in Fourways, MOZAMBIK Restaurant.

LOCKDOWN is a collection of twenty one poems written by Enock Shishenge during the First Nation’s Lockdown of 2020 and “IN MY STOLEN YARD-Echoes of a Ghetto Child” is a non-fictional narrative of township life by King Zwai.

These are revolutionary offerings from a teacher and a learner from KAE. Enock Shishenge is a teacher at Eqinisweni Secondary School in Ivory Park while his co-author Kingzwai met Shishenge while doing Grade 9 at Tsosoloso ya Afrika Secondary School in Ebony Park.

The two are equal shareholders of Ndzhaka Publishers, which publishes ghetto based manuscripts. The two KAE residents were honoured alongside big names in the literary community such as Lefifi Tladi, Don Matera and other global figures from other African countries and the USA.

This was the fourth African Authors’ Awards held and the legendary Joshua Maponga was once honoured with this prestigious award sometime back. The theme of this year’s awrads was “History Makers in Afrika”
