BACK TO SCHOOL FOR MORE LEARNERS

Most grades are set to return to school today, 24 August 2020. Schools were closed on the 18th of March 2020 as part of government’s National Lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The returning learners are the ones in Grades R, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 in Primary Schools and Grades 9, 10, and 11 for Secondary Schools.

The remaining Grade 5 and Grade 8 learners are scheduled to return on the 31st of August 2020.

If a school has capacity to manage all grades at once, they may do so especially small and multi grades.

Learners and parents are reminded to continue practicing social distance, wash hands regularly and wear a mask covering nose and mouth to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

The Gauteng Department of Education is looking forward to the return of 1,5 million learners to school this morning. Over 2,000 government funded Early Childhood Development Centres will also reopen their doors today.

Learning will take place at a rotational system for some schools. Parents may request for more information at the respective schools .
