CoJ EXPANDED SOCIAL PACKAGES

The City of Johannesburg assists residents who can’t afford basic living costs like water, electricity and property rates by subsiding their rates through the Expanded Social Packages (ESP).

The Expanded Social Package (ESP) offers relief and subsidies to the unemployed, youth, women & children, displaced persons.

Each individual who qualifies for ESP is eligible for specific benefits, and you do not need to be an account holder to apply for subsidies. You just have to live somewhere that has an account with the City, for water and electricity.

Qualifying Criteria

? Be a South African Citizen

?Reside with CoJ Boundaries

? Not earn more than R5 852.28 per month

?reapply every 6 months

Documents Required for Registration:

?Proof of Income, SASSA Card, 3 Months Bank Statement or sworn affidavit that you do not have bank account or source of income.

?Identity Document

?CoJ Rates and Taxes Account

?City Power/Eskom Prepaid Electricity Number

?Johannesburg Water Account/Prepaid Account Number (ITU Number)
