HEALTH MMC VISITS GRANT PAYOUTS IN KAE

Today, 4 May 2020, the MMC of Health and Social Development in the City of Johannesburg, Eunice Mgcina, visited several social grant pay points in KAE (Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park).

Amongst the pay points visited by the MMC today were Kaalfontein Corner, Ebony Park Post Office and Busy Corner Mall. The purpose of the MMC’s visit was to “conduct an oversight assessment and ensure that grant recipients are adhering to the principle of social distancing between pensioners and that necessary hygiene protocol are followed.” she wrote on Facebook.

The Minister added that “We encourage joburgers to continue to cooperate and wash their hands regularly with soap.”

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) paid out grants to disabled and elderly beneficiaries today. Further grant payouts to the elderly and disabled will be done tomorrow. This is done to avoid overcrowding at stores and to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Child grant beneficiaries will be paid out on Wednesday, 6 May 2020.
