IVORY PARK MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSİON OF HIKACKED CARS, BRIBERY

Ivory Park station commander, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has welcomed the arrest yesterday, Tuesday 27 September 2022, of an Ivory Park man for possession of hijacked motor vehicles.

Some of the vehicles had already been dismantled and were just shells but the police have found enough evidence to connect the dots.

“The 48-year old man man, who runs a scrap yard that is also used as a chopping place for the stolen or hijacked motor vehicles, was also charged with bribing the two Gauteng Highway Patrol Officers. When it became apparently clear to him that his criminal ways have come to a cul de sac, the suspect allegedly tried to bribe the officers with one thousand and one hundred rand. He is allegedly a recipient of stolen and hijacked vehicles.” said Captain Ben Matimulane of Ivory Park SAPS.

“Congratulations to the arresting officers from the Gauteng Highway Patrol Unit and other role players involved such as Ekurhuleni District’s Intelligence Task Team and the Tembisa Tracing Team for having undertaken this successful operation which will surely assist us with solving several trio incidents in Ekurhuleni and, possibly, beyond,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.

Two of the vehicles were robbed in Crystal Park, one in Ivory Park, while the engine recovered had a Daveyton case number.

Brigadier Ngcobo further congratulated the officers for their upright and incorruptible behaviour, saying: “The two constables’ behaviour is in line with our code of conduct.”

The suspect will appear in the TembisaMagistrate’s Court on Thursday to answer to these charges
