IVORY PARK POLICE NEED INFO FOLLOWING A MURDER IN EBONY PARK

Local police have opened and are investigating a case of murder following a fatal shooting incident in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 23 January 2022.

“Two friends coming from Lifestyle, a famous tavern in Ebony Park, where accosted by a group of six (6) men, two (2) of whom had firearms.” said Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson of Ivory Park SAPS.

“They were searched, and the other victim fled and the deceased was taken to a secluded spot. When the victims with members of the community came back they found him lying lifeless and they immediately rushed to inform his family. He had been shot in the back of the head, with the bullet exiting in the face.” Matimulane said.

The victim was robbed of his running shoes and cellphone and was certified dead at the scene.

The acting station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Colonel Baba Mpotoane, has expressed shock at this incident in which someone lost their life over a pair of shoes.

“Chances are that one person in the community should know who those people are. We would appreciate it if anyone with information can tip us off,” said Colonel Mpotoane.
