“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate the abnormal class of 2020. It was an abnormal year, a year that no one understood and anticipated” said Busisiwe Mashego, the South African Democratic Teacher’s Union (SADTU) Education Convener for the Ivory Park/Midrand Branch.
“The entire world came to a standstill due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We have lost a number of teachers. Some leaners sat for exams under painful and stressful situation, they were grieving their departed educators and their loved ones.”
“Our matriculants were brave enough, had courage and wrote the exams under those difficult circumstances. They picked up the spear and soldiered on. They made it at the end. Congratulations class of 2020” Mashego added.
