JB MATABANE MOBILE UNITS TO BE REPLACED BY BRICKS

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has apparently completed the process of identifying all mobile schools in the province which need to be replaced.

JB Matabane Secondary School in Ivory Park is one of the schools identified and has been included in the process. The school will soon have its mobile units replaced by Brick-and-Mortar.

Schooling was disrupted at the school, on Tuesday 19 July 2022, which was the first schooling day of the third term.

Complainants submitted a memorandum of demands, which includes furniture and infrastructure. GDE Officials visited the school to receive the memorandum accordingly. GDE has confirmed that identified furniture will be delivered in due course.

Schooling has resumed at the school and the situation is now calm and learning will resume as normal.

“We categorically condemn any disruption of schooling in our schools by anyone, more so during a time when every day counts as we have already lost several critical school days due to such disruptions,” said Steve Mabona, the GDE Spokesperson.

JB Matabane Secondary School was the best performing school in KAE and surrounding areas in terms of matric results in the 2021 academic year.
