LOCAL SCHOOL FINALLY RECEIVES FURNITURE

Eqinisweni Secondary School received a total of 700 chairs and 50 desks on Tuesday, 10 May 2022.

This is after learners from the school held a protest action on Monday. Learners from the school together with learners from Umqhele Comprehensive School, JB Matabane Secondary School, Kaalfontein Secondary School, Tsosoloso Ya Afrika Secondary School and Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School took to the streets for lack of chairs and desks at the schools.

The schools don’t have enough furniture to cater for the thousands of learners who have to sit on the floor for most of the school day making it extremely difficult to focus and concentrate.

After today’s delivery of the chairs and desks by the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) at Eqinisweni Secondary School. It is understood by KAE News the school will still have a shortage of approximately 800.

Story is developing.

UPDATE: A further 450 desks will be delivered tomorrow at Eqinisweni Secondary School by GDE.
