MAN SHOT DEAD DURING ROBBERY

A night outing by three friends has ended tragically for an Ivory Park, man when he was fatally shot during a robbery along Republic Road in the early hours of Saturday morning, 27 November 2021.

“The victim, 32, was in the company of his two other friends, coming from an unidentified tavern, when they came across five men who approached them under the pretext of asking for directions.
Once they were together the five man group showed their intention and, upon realising that they were in the middle of a robbery, the three victims fled to different directions and that was when the victim was shot and he died at the scene. He was shot in the head. The robbers took the victim’s phone and disappeared into the night.” said Captain Ben Matimulane, the spokesperson of the Ivory Park SAPS.

“An Ivory Park SAPS police van on patrol was stopped by one of the victim and the lifeless body was attended and all the necessary police experts attended to the scene.” Matimulane added.

The station commander of the Ivory Park, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has expressed shock at this murder, and said: ” Tragic events such as this should be the primary reason people should work closely with the police in locating illegal firearms which are all over the place.”
