SECURITY GUARD ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF SCHOOL PROPERTY

Members of the Ivory Park SAPS crime prevention team have arrested a security officer deployed at Kaalfontein Primary School for theft of property belonging to the school on Thursday, 25 November 2021.

The police officers received information that the security officer had hidden the laminating machine and a projector at some place while he was looking for buyers.

Police however suspect he was not alone in committing the crime as he had no access into the inside of the building and no part of the school had been broken into. This and any other information will form part of the investigation from now henceforth.

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has expressed disappointment at the security officer’s alleged involvement in stealing from a school he was supposed to be protecting.

“Theft and burglary in our schools are a huge concern, and as the people tasked with protecting people’s belongings we are gutted by these actions,” said Brigadier Ngcobo. The suspect will be charged with theft of the school’s property and is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate Court shortly.

“We are however grateful to the community members who supplied us with information, something that demonstrates that together we can effectively fight crime,” added Brigadier Ngcobo
