MURDER SUSPECT TO APPLY FOR BAIL
A Kaalfontein man currently facing a murder charge in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court is expected to apply for bail on Monday, 17 January 2022.
The suspect who is accused of fatally stabbing one Peter Ncube on Saturday night, handed himself over to the police on Sunday and has already appeared before the court on Tuesday.
Pressure from the police detectives and the community who threatened him with death may have contributed to his decision to hand himself into police custody.
It is alleged that the suspect and Ncube, in his mid to late thirties, had an argument about money owed. The suspect is alleged to have taken out a knife and stabbed the deceased who succumbed to the injuries at the Ebony Park-Kaalfontein Clinic shortly afterwards.
The Acting Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Colonel Baba Mpotoane, has thanked the police for exerting pressure on the suspect, something that resulted in the suspect handing himself over to the police.
“Our detectives will continue to do all that is legally possible to bring the alleged perpetrators of crime to justice. We would have caught him sooner or later, regardless,” said Colonel Mpotoane.
“The rumour mill has it that he was nearly killed by a mob, we strongly urge the community to work with us in bringing alleged criminals to account for their alleged transgressions”, said Colonel Mpotoane.
