NASREC TO BE USED AS QUARANTINE SITE

The MEC of Health in Gauteng, Dr Bandile Maseko, visited the NASREC Expo Centre today the 15th of April 2020. The Centre has been identified as one of the sites to be used as a facility for quarantining and isolating COVID-19 cases in the province.

Various sites have been set up that will ease the pressure from health facilities i.e hospitals and clinics. NASREC has a bed capacity of 2,250. The first phase of the project will be completed at the end of next week and will be ready to accommodate 500 patients should the need arise.

The Gauteng Province is the province with the most cases in South Africa. At the time of publishing the province had 909 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 4 related deaths.
