NOTORIOUS WHITE POLO BURNED IN MAKHULONG

The notorious white Volkswagen Polo which is allegedly used in the commission of robberies in Tembisa and Midrand townships was burned by vigilantes in Makhulong yesterday, 16 February 2022.

Apparently, the alleged robbers were caught attempting to snatch a phone from a school child at Ethiopia Street in Makhulong on Wednesday afternoon.

The occupants of the vehicle are said to have sped off when the child screamed and bumped into another car.

This is when the community caught the three occupants of the vehicle and assaulted them subsequently burning the car.

Two (2) of the individuals were saved by the police while third male was ferried away by an ambulance and succumbed to he’s injuries in hospital.

The other two are in a critical condition in hospital and are estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.

According to eyewitnesses, the polo was found in possession of numerous cellphones and other electronics which are believed to have been stolen.

The parents of the school child who had phone snatched on Wednesday and community members who have been robbed by the white VW Polo sedan are urged to come forward and report the cases to the Tembisa SAPS.

In so doing, the police might be able to link the crimes to the individuals and make arrests.

A case of assault and murder has been opened by the police against the community members who took the law into their own hands.
