POLICE NEED HELP IN SOLVING DOUBLE MURDER IN KAALFONTEIN

Ivory Park Police are asking for assistance from anyone with information regarding two murder incidents during which two men, who are also neighbours, were fatally shot in Kaalfontein on Sunday night.

“The two men were shot dead by one of the five occupants of a white vehicle after a short argument. It is reported that the first victim was driving in his vehicle when he apparently bumped into a pedestrian. He stopped with the intention of enquiring whether the affected pedestrian was ok or that he may be in need of assistance so that he can provide him with such. He was shortly approached by five men and an argument started. It is not yet clear as to what the argument was all about, but the 49-year-old man was shot twice- once on the head and the chest. He died on the scene.” said Ivory Park SAPS Spokesperson, Captain Ben Matimulane.

“The second victim was driving past the scene when he apparently noticed his neighbour’s vehicle. He stopped to check from his neighbour what was happening and, again, a short argument, the source and content of which are not yet known at this stage, started. He was shot on the waist and succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards at the local clinic. All of the men, including the pedestrian bumped by the first victim, climbed into the car and left the scene.” added Captain Matimulane,

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, has expressed shock at these murders, and strongly believes that there must have been someone at the scene who might have witnessed something worth telling the police about.

“These murders took place in the early hours of the evening while lots of people were still out and about. We humbly request anyone with information, however little they think that information is, to please come forward in order to assist us in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.

Anyone with information is requested to get in touch with the Ivory Park SAPS on 011 990 9600, or call the police’s Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
