SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITION IN TEMBISA

The Police received a tip off on Wednesday, 26 January 2022, about an individual who is in possession of an unlicensed firearm at Dark Street next to Motsu park, Tembisa.

The informant was tasked to inform the officers when the suspect is been seen again.

The following day at about 14:00, the suspect was seen driving a white VW Caddy, surveillance was kept until the operational team comprising of SAPS Ekurhuleni North Crime intelligence and EMPD arrived, the vehicle was stopped by operational team at Motsu Section Tembisa.

A search was conducted where a black Glock firearm with four (4) bullets was found in the suspect’s possession.

Suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The suspect’s vehicle was also circulated but tested negative.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the same suspect is the one who is selling vehicles that used to park in an open space in Motsu Section.”

“The suspect refused to give his Identity number and date of birth to the Police, but he is from Getrude Street in Birchleigh North.” said Captain Sekgobela the SAPS Ekurhuleni District spokesperson.
