TEMBISA HOSPITAL CEO SUSPENDED
The Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) has served the Tembisa Hospital CEO, Dr Lekopane Mogaladi, with a notice to place him on precautionary suspension.
The Department said that “it wishes to reiterate its commitment to implementing the recommendations of the report by the Health Ombuds into the circumstances surrounding the care and death of Shonisani Lethole at the Tembisa Hospital.”
On Thursday, the Health Ombuds found that Lethole went without food for four days in July before he sadly passed away at the health facility.
Part of the recommendations of the Health Ombuds was the disciplinary enquiry of the leadership and management of the Tembisa Hospital.
The Ombuds also recommended that GDoH should institute disciplinary action against 12 staff members including Doctors and Nurses.
GDoH said it will not be challenging the report and has given Mogaladi five working days to explain why he should not be placed on suspension.
