ZERO TOLERANCE TO NON COMPLIANCE OF LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS

“More than twenty (20) suspects were arrested during a high density operation in Tembisa on Saturday night while gathered for after tears. Suspects were also drinking liquor.” said Ekurhuleni District Communication Officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela.

This was after members of Ekurhuleni District Police Stations , Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and other law enforcement agencies paraded at Tembisa SAPS to ensure the safety of the citizens and that offenders of the law are brought to book.

The parade was addressed by Station Commander of Ivory Park, Brigadier Mbongeni Ngcobo .

The main focus of the police operation was on liquor, drugs, stop and searching, visible Policing and Disaster Management Act Enforcement. Members of the Police were also encouraged to work professionally and to apply zero tolerance to the non compliance on Disaster Management Act.

Residents are reminded of the adjusted level 4 lockdown restrictions which prohibit gatherings and the sale of alcohol for off-site consumption. Curfew hours are from 21:00 until 04:00.
