1 NOVEMBER ANNOUNCED AS DATE FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

Our areas of Kaalfontein, Allandale, Ebony Park (KAE), Ivory Park and Rabie Ridge are set to elect Ward Councillors on Monday, 01 November 2021.

This is after the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, officially announced 1 November as the date for local elections on Wednesday, 8 September 2021.

Discussions are underway to make the 1st of November 2021 a public holiday to allow more people to go to the polls.

Earlier, the Constitutional Court rejected the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) application to postpone the polls until February 2022 due to Covid-19 infections.

In preparing to comply with the Constitutional Court order, the IEC has determined that a registration event is necessary ahead of Local Government Elections. Therefore, Registration weekend will be on the 18th and 19th September 2021 from 8am until 5pm.

Online Registration is also open. KAE residents can register to vote here
