COMMUTER ALLEGEDLY RAPED AND ROBBED BY TAXI DRIVER

The victim was allegedly abducted and raped by a taxi driver on Friday, April 1 in a Chloorkop open veld along Allandale Road. The incident is said to have happened around 20:00.

According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, the victim alleged that she took a taxi from Kanana sports ground to Friendship Town.

“The driver asked for the complainant’s phone number, but she refused. It was only two of them inside the taxi. The driver drove past her drop-off point. When she questioned this, he pointed her with a firearm and drove to an open veld along Allandale Road,” said Moremi.

“He allegedly undressed her and raped her without a condom. After that he is said to have demanded money and the victim called her sister, her sister sent R3000. The driver went somewhere to withdraw the money.” said Moremi.

“When he came back, he drove again, stopped and raped her again inside the taxi after that he dropped her in Rabie Ridge, the victim cannot be able to identify the suspect.” Moremi added.

“The police urge anyone with knowledge to contact them. Your identity will be protected.”

The victim told the police that the vehicle was a silver grey Toyota Avanza.
