The Rabie Ridge Police are looking for two (2) known suspects who allegedly burned shacks at Vusimusi Informal Settlement consequently killing a tenant.
“According to the victim he alleged that on Saturday 02 April 2022 at around 00:30 to 03:00 he had an argument with a known suspect inside one of the taverns at Vusimusi informal settlement” said Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi of the Rabie Ridge SAPS.
“Suddenly the uncle of the suspect allegedly slapped him on the face. The victim ran outside the tavern and the suspects followed him. The suspect number 2 who is ‘uncle to the first suspect’ allegedly took a beer bottle and hit him on the face” said Moremi.
“He ran to his shack and they chased him. On arrival at his shack it was about 03:00, he saw the above suspects busy lighting the shack outside on the passage and the fire started to be uncontrollable.” Moremi added.
Three shacks burned while the community were busy extinguishing the fire. After the fire was extinguished they found a woman burned beyond recognition. The deceased is said to be one of the tenants on that yard for only two weeks.
The suspects are on the run while investigations are in progress.
“The police are appealing to members of the community who may have any information to come forward. Your identity will be treated as confidential and will never be revealed to anybody. Help us to bring the suspects to book,” appealed Sgt Moremi.
