DONT TAKE STRANGERS HOME FROM PARTYING, POLICE WARN

The Station Commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier Mbongeni David Ngcobo has warned the community to not go to taverns and such places with the purpose of hooking up with strangers and bringing them to their places.

“Our experience as the Ivory Park SAPS has shown that this is not a safe practice as these encounters have ended in disaster for those men, many of whom would have been under the influence of alcohol during these adventures.” said Brigadier Ngcobo.

A 26 year-old woman was arrested by the Ivory Park police on Monday the 17th of February 2020. The woman, who claims to be from Brits in the North-West province, is believed to be part of a group of women. She was identified by one of the man who allegedly fell victim to the group.

It is alleged that the woman, together with others known to her, would hang out at taverns around the Ebony Park area, waiting to be picked up by some of the male patrons.

They then accompany these men to their places where they are drugged, steal household goods before leaving. When the victims wake up, the suspect would have been long gone.

A KAE Community member Ntshuxeko Maluleka took to Facebook to warn KAE residents on Sunday. “I got a girl Friday night at Lifestyle and we went to my place hoping we are going to get down. I woke up yesterday morning drugged with my in-house goods stolen including cash. I was only spared my life…Be careful KAE fam.”

Another victim, David McLean spoke to KAE News by telephone. The Allandale resident, together with his friends, picked up two females at Acasia Street in Ebony Park near SBS Lifestyle on a Friday two weeks ago. One moment they were drinking with the females and the next thing he woke up on Sunday at his place vomiting a black substance.

Fortunately for McLean, he didn’t take the suspects home. The last thing he remembers was the females and his friends drinking in one of his friend’s car. They were all apparently drugged and their phones and cash stolen.

The Ivory Park police precint has experienced several crimes with this modus operandi in the past year. Brigadier Ngcobo has welcomed the arrest and cautioned party goers to excercise caution.
