ESKOM GAUTENG IMPLEMENTS “LOAD REDUCTION” IN KAE

ESKOM in Gauteng has started to initiate load reduction in areas where there’s oveloading, meter bypassing and illegal electricity connections. Kaalfontein, Ebony Park and Ivory Park are some of the areas that the power utility is targeting to implement the load reduction initiative.

Since the launch of initiative on the 13th of May 2020. The load reduction has been implemented during peak hours from 05:00 to 09:00 or from 17:00 to 22:00. These are the periods that the power utility experiences high energy demands. In some cases the period is extended as part of real-time network monitoring.

Eskom says that it has implemented load reduction to protect its assets from repeated failure and explosions resulting from illegal connections, meter tampering and vandalism of electricity infrastructure.

Yesterday, 27 May 2020, parts of Kaalfontein, Ebony Park and Ivory Park did not have electricity from 16:55 until 22:02. KAE News is in consultation with Eskom to share the roster of the Load Reductions so that we can advise you before the electricity is switched off.

UPDATE: Electricity has switched off in Kaalfontein, Ebony Park and Ivory Park today, 30 May 2020, 17:00. The power will be restored at 22:00 as the power utility implements load reduction.

It’s going to be a cold winter.
