FOREIGN NATIONAL SCAMS WOMAN INTO SELLING HOUSE, THEN TAKES THE MONEY

Detectives from the Ivory Park SAPS have arrested an Ugandan national for fraudulently stealing almost half a million rand from someone who “consulted” with him. The suspect allegedly achieved his motives by posing as a traditional healer.

The suspect was arrested immediately after appearing in court on another matter.

The woman, from Kaalfontein, was swindled a large some of money after she was encouraged to sell her house as it had evil spirits and to hand the money to the man to perform some rituals with the money.

The money was given to the suspect in tranches. He disappeared shortly afterwards. He was arrested on Wednesday and is due to appear in court today, 10 November 2023.

The 46-year-old suspect is prominent within the Ugandan diaspora in Pretoria and well embedded within the Ugandan political machinations. He is a supporter of the well-known opposition party in Uganda.
