NO ELECTRICITY IN RABIE RIDGE

Residents of Rabie Ridge, Mayibuye and Austin View have had no electricity for most of this week.

This is due to the Allandale Substation, which supplies the above mentioned areas, exploding on Monday, 15 May 2023.

“Repairs on a faulty breaker and wiring of protection relays are currently underway. City Power team is also awaiting for test branch to run tests on the Voltage Transformer (VT) in the Substation” City Power told KAE News.

The testing will resume on Thursday afternoon after scheduled Loadshedding which is expected to end at 14:30.

Unfortunately, there has also been reports of theft and vandalism of cables in electrical boxes and on the poles during the power outage.

City Power sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused and has assured residents that a follow up update will be published on Thursday night.

Residents are reminded to switch off plugs during Loadshedding or power outages to avoid transformer failure and damage to electrical appliances.
