ONE DEAD, ONE IN HOSPITAL AFTER MOB JUSTICE INCIDENT

Tragedy struck early on Tuesday, 14 February 2023, when two (2) men were caught allegedly robbing a woman on her way to work at an open field between Motsu section in Tembisa and Dali Mpofu informal settlements in Ivory Park.

The community members who caught them resorted to mob justice, resulting in one man being beaten and burnt to death while the other sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

It is reported that the robbery victim managed to retrieve her phone and continued on her way to work. However, the community members caught the suspects before they could get away. The police have appealed to the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to bring suspects to the police station instead. They also encourage the victim to open a case to ensure that justice is served in a legal manner.

It is alarming to note that in such incidents, the victims can quickly turn into suspects. The incident highlights the need for the community to work together with law enforcement agencies to curb crime and ensure the safety of all residents. In the fight against crime, the community should be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police instead of taking matters into their own hands.
