POLICE ARREST THREE SUSPECTS WITH HIJACKED VEHICLE AND UNLICENSED FIREARM IN TEMBISA

On Wednesday, 27 October 2021 members of Tembisa SAPS arrested three (3) suspects (aged between 27 and 42 years) in Emangweni Section for possession of a hijacked vehicle, unlicensed firearm and stolen property.

According to a preliminary report, the members were out on a crime prevention patrol when they identified a brown coloured VW Polo with three suspicious-looking occupants. Further investigation linked the vehicle to a hijacking case reported at Kempton Park SAPS.

“The members attempted to intercept the suspects’ vehicle but the suspects sped off and a high-speed car chase ensued. The suspects collided into a barricade and attempted to flee on foot but they were successfully apprehended.” said Captain Van Wyk of the SAPS.

Police also recovered an unlicensed firearm with live rounds and a cellphone which is believed to have been stolen during the hijacking incident.
