MORE VACCINATION SITES TO BE LAUNCHED

The Johannesburg Health District has joined forces with the City of Johannesburg, and the UNICEF-support Zwakala Campaign to launch more public vaccination pop-up sites.

The sites will be in Swazi Inn, Ext7 Park (Wednesday, 09 February), Mabena Squatter Camp (Thursday, 10 February), and Riverside Ext 15 (Friday, 11) in Ivory Park, Midrand.

The sites will operate from 09h00 until 15h00.

These are the lowest performing areas on the vaccination uptake in Region A. The district is hoping that targeting these areas will positively increase vaccination uptake in the region.

“The partnership with these stakeholders is part of our commitment to combatting vaccine hesitancy by creating convenient access to vaccinations,” says Mogeru Morewane, Chief Director for Johannesburg Health District.

“Vaccination is our best hope of defeating the pandemic to save lives and restore livelihoods. We are proud to collaborate with stakeholders to make this essential service available, so that we can reach as many eligible people as possible in the quickest amount of time. During this programme, undocumented individuals will also be vaccinated,” Morewane concluded.

The new vaccination sites will have the capacity to vaccinate 1000 or more individuals a day.

Vaccinations will be open to all individuals aged 12, and above. Citizens are encouraged to visit these sites even if they are not registered on the Electronic Vaccination Database System (EVDS).

They will be assisted with registration by the Healthcare workers on site. They are requested to bring their birth certificates or identify documents or driver’s licenses but, if they do not have any documents, they can still come and receive their vaccination.
