VEGGIE PACKS HANDED OUT TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN IVORY PARK

On Friday, 12 March 2021, the MMC of Economic Development in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Lawrence Khoza handed out vegetable packs to needy families, including the elderly and persons with disabilities in Ivory Park.

The Region A Community Social Development programme was held at the Lord Khanylie Hall in Ivory Park on Friday. The vegetable packs include potatoes, carrots, cabbage and butternut.

“As the City of Johannesburg, we would like to show our communities that we care and understand that they have been affected by COVID-19 resulting in losses of jobs and income.”

said Cllr Lawrence Khoza

He added that the City will not be stopping here (Ivory Park) and that the programme will be an ongoing thing so that the City can assist as many people as possible.

The recently adjusted CoJ Budget increased expenditure for social development by R18,1 million. Of this, R15 million has been earmarked for the purchase and provision of vegetable packs for indigent communities and those that have been hard hit by the pandemic.
