POSSIBLE WATER RESTRICTIONS IN PARTS OF KAE

Rand Water has indicated that it’s distribution network is currently under severe pressure whereby the water demand exceeds the water supply.

Rand Water has requested Johannesburg Water (JW) to implement water restrictions to prevent a situation where both supply systems collapse.

Accordingly, Johannesburg Water will be restricting many of its reservoirs by between 20 and 45%.

One of the reservoirs that JW has restricted is the Rem Allandale and President Park Reservoirs. These reservoirs supply Kaalfontein, Ebony Park, Ivory Park, Rabie Ridge and President Park.

According to a Johannesburg Water statement “some areas fed from the reservoirs will experience low pressure to no water especially in high lying areas”. However, some of the areas will not be affected at all.

Johannesburg Water says that alternative water supply will be rolled out to areas that will be affected as and when required.

“We plead with all residents of the City of Johannesburg to use water sparingly and residents to report all service interruptions through the call centre and on social media. “

KAE News will update you should water tankers be dispatched in our area should the need arise.
